Hey Anne, stop spamming blogs/message boards/newsgroups and using false names to try to sell your books! You posted here four times!!
Anne Hart's many aliases include "Anne Theodakis H.", "Anne Joan Levine", "Anne Mizrahi Hart, M.A.", "Mereet Mizrahi Mansour, M.A.", "Petra Antonis", "Angelique Levine, M.A.", "Arlene Cowan-Hart", among others. SHE USED TWO OF THOSE ALIASES IN THIS BLOG BOARD! Sometimes she poses as part-Circassian, or Greek, or as an Iraqi Jew of the Ani family that lived as Jews in America for 3 generations, or as Ashkenazi Jew, or as a "100% Irish/Scottish" who is a "5th generation Unitarian" Protestant Christian, or as someone raised by Cherokees, depending on who she is writing to and for what reason. She also reviewed her own books at Amazon.com and in newsgroups. As an example, check out the spam to alt.journalism.freelance on April 6, 1996 in which she, posing as "Arlene Cowan-Hart" with the fake disclaimer "no relation to author", but originating from her own e-mail address, wfst@cts.com, advertised her books "Interactive Writing for the Newest Media Markets" and "The Newest Interactive Businesses To Start A to Z". When writing to misc.education from the same address, she signed as "Anne Joan Levine" but the "From:" line reads "A. Hart" --oops!You forgot to disguise that one! We can also see that the "reviews" she posted at Amazon.com for her own books usually cross-reference her other books and how she writes at least one quick book a year (as opposed to writing one good solid book every 2-3 years and getting it properly edited!) and are written in her own writing style and often talk about having students who allegedly use the books in their classes (as if all these reviewers with different names are all teachers, like Anne herself claims to be!).
The message to soc.genealogy.jewish claimed she was "100% Irish/Scottish" ("and a Unitarian") and is signed "Sincerely, Anne Hart at wfst@cts.com." Other times she claims to be descended from the Ashkenazi Jews "Herman Tucker" and "Pauline Herkowitz". In soc.genealogy.jewish on March 2, 1995 Anne Hart cross-referenced her alleged "friend" "Anne Joan Levine", "a warm, friendly, outgoing Jewish woman who just found out she was Jewish late in life". Over the next 8 years, she continued to use this alias, sometimes combining it as "Annejoan Levine" (where Anne and Joan are fused into one name), such as she did when advertising her website and book to the DNA SIG at JewishGen in November 2003. At other times, she claimed to be researching on behalf of a "Ms. A. Ani" (yet another of her identities). Notice how the aliases are not so easily disguised because we can see that a lot of them use "Anne" and "Levine" and "Mizrahi" and at least three of them end in "Hart", which is her real last name. And look how many have a "M.A." degree attahceed to their names!
Recently she started advertising her new book under the pseudonym "Kendall", who claims to "use it with my students". Similarly, "Anne Joan Levine" to misc.education on 1996/03/21 claimed "My creative writing students...I'm using these books for my six classes". A review to Amazon.com for her book "How to Interpret Your DNA Test Results for Family History & Ancestry" claims "I use this book with my students...I highly recommend it to my beginning students in molecular genealogy, oral history, genealogy, and DNA/human genetics studies as well as anthropology." See the pattern? Interestingly, sometimes she claims to teach creative writing, other times science, other times genealogy or history. Sometimes she poses as a journalist, other times as an editor (e.g,"Bioscience Communications Editor"--of what publication? It's never stated because she actually has no journal or magazine!), other times as a college professor or school teacher of Jewish children. But all she is is an independent, unaffiliated writer trying to earn more money by writing, she admits, on "books that sell".
About cross-referencing, here's a great example -in an anonymous "review" of "The Year My Whole Country Turned Jewish" at Amazon.com, the "reviewer" (Anne herself) declares "Also see Hart's multicultural female sleuth books, her Armenian detective character (female) Tweechig Haroutunian, her Eygptian/Greek Mizrahi character, in A Private Eye Called Mama Africa, and her other novels listed at www.iuniverse.com or www.1stbooks.com. She writes several novels a year as she has done since 1963. This is a spectacular book in the style of Harry Potter with a multicultural nuance. Great book for young teen readers. I also enjoyed Anne Hart's DNA Detectives Series, and her novel, The Courage to be Jewish and the Wife of an Arab Sheik as well as a version and poem of Marot's story in The Day My Whole Country Turned Jewish, which is a poem, a story, and illustrations from Marot's diary." Basically, this "reader" claims to have read so many of Anne's books!
The reviews and spams are also often posted from San Diego, CA or San Francisco, CA, the same locations as where Anne Hart herself signs her messages, not exactly a clever disguise. Or other times from New Jersey with some of her other aliases. The reviews are always so glowing with praise too!
All of the so-called reviews of her book "Winning Resumes for Computer Personnel" at Amazon.com may also be fake. For instance, "Jim Vincent" on December 8, 1999 posted "Excellent book written by senior citizen homebased with multiple disabilities". Sounds like "Jim" is very familiar with Anne as a person! Health situation points like this are repeated many times in her most recent books. Another point repeated, even in the books themselves, is that she is a battered wife who suffered a head injury (which may have induced the schizophrenia?). And another is her poor eyesight. She even talks about things like the battering in her book on DNA in 3 different places, in the middle of the narrative where it has nothing to do with the subject of DNA. Wouldn't you know that Anne Hart talks about her being "homebound and handicapped" to comp.publish.cdrom.software on 1995-03-09, and "a visually impaired, homebased senior citizen" to alt.journalism.freelance on 1996/03/22. On March 29, 1995 Hart claims in alt.business.misc: "I am also available as a paid writer, reporter, columnist, or will attend trade shows in San Diego, Las Vegas, and parts of Arizona." That's quite interesting to be willing to travel and work for someone who is supposedly "homebound" and "retired", isn't it? (In sdnet.jobs on March 11, 1995 she wrote "Homebound handicapped middle aged retired journalist". Was that to garner sympathy? And the claims about visual impairment, again to get sympathy, or legit?)
There are much better books about DNA out there, and more quality books are coming next year, so you can pass by Hart's books.
And there is no excuse for this kind of attention-seeking multi-alias fraud over more than eight years. This is all well documented!
