I don't see how anyone could disagree with Razib here. These bas-reliefs are executed in so stylized a manner as to be almost useless as a guide to what the distinguishing physical characteristics were of the ethnicities/nationalities represented. They are all highly interesting on other grounds, of course, and are beautiful in their own right as archæological/artistic/ethno-cultural treasures and for that reason alone richly deserve to be published here. But as for their usefulness for the above more technical purpose, it must be admitted they leave something to be desired.

Look at them again and notice the various combinations of hair presence/absence/texture on the head/beard.
