David B. of Gene Expression has a very interesting post warning about the pitfalls of IQ comparisons of different nations.
Posted by Dienekes at November 8, 2003 06:55 PM | PermaLinkAnd David B is of what heritage? I've been studying the race-IQ question for a number of years, and the data seem sound to me. Hand-waiving arguments to explain these differences often fail, both in America and abroad, and the histories of the achievements (or lack thereof) of different groups seem to match IQ data very closely.
Of course, David's comments can be viewed as a blow to the idea of "cognitive elitism"...

I've read through the list of studies in the back of Lynn's book and the data is a mess of studies of varying age, testing device, testee age, sample size/representativeness for each country, etc.
The only way to do a study of this kind is to administer a single, culture-free (possible?) test to country-representative samples of a fixed age bracket within a period of a few years. Then, you've got something that at least has a meaning.

I suppose that means that, as a South Asian male who has a fetish for blonde women, you are more likely to be attracted to David's female relatives than to your own women.
I also notice that GNXP banned Rienzi from posting. So much for "free speech" from brownsters who think so lowly of their own race that they seek women of other races for a subjective feeling of being "accepted" by a racially more desirable person of the opposite sex. Usually it is Black nationalists with this psychological profile.
Also, I'd like to learn about the alleged detention of Southern Italians post 9/11 because they looked Arab (a claim from GNXP), of the "Greek"-looking Godlesscapitalist (who is afraid to post his pic, and relies on anecdotes), and why East Indians are often mistaken for individuals like Joe DiMaggio, Robert DeNiro, and Al Pacino while visiting Italy.
Sure, because it is claimed on the internet, it MUST be true. Sure. :D

Off-topic.

Need I remind you of what you wrote at Richard Poe's website on March 4, 2003 as Joseph Cortez? Here's what you told Poe:
"I have tended to date non-White women, almost exclusively, and my ex-girlfriend is in fact a Brazilian of Portuguese/Italian/Indian ancestry. I find Latin American women most attractive."
It would seem you're guilty of the same psychological maladies you attribute to the writers at Gene Expression.
"Sure, because it is claimed on the internet, it MUST be true."
Did the writer from Gene Expression make such an appeal?

I also told Mr. Poe I am 1/4 Jewish. I was pulling pranks at his website. By the way, you pretended to be a Pole at his website ("Arthur Kalinowski") and from Chicago. What I claimed at Mr. Poe's neoconservative site is meaningless.
I have never dated a Latin-American woman, although some relatively attractive ones expressed interest in me. I might consider dating one if I find her desirable, though.
Posted by: Blue Division at November 12, 2003 01:36 PMI will also add that neocon websites are the most cowardly of all websites. Even the liberal websites and forums will tolerate non-PC views at times, whereas non-PC types are outright banned on neocon forums. This tells me the neocons are threatened by competing views.
If I were to count the number of forums I have been banned from or censored for merely expressing certain political views and nothing else, it would be 1 liberal forum, 1 feminist forum, 1 Nordicist forum, and 3 neocon forums. Neocons are by far the worst.
Posted by: Blue Division at November 12, 2003 02:40 PMOn IQ and the economic status of nations, I think Professor Lynn's position looks very good prima facie, and I tend to believe it has some merit, although I am always concerned about social scientists with a political bent fudging data or making invalid comparisons. Dienekes brought up some good points.
It's so easy to play with statistics and almost any viewpoint can be emphasized by presenting data in a certain way.
