Italian men attract more women to their nation than its museums, a new survey claims.
A poll of female tourists from Sweden, Germany, Finland and Britain found Italian men were the country's second most popular attraction.
Its natural beauty comes top, while museums come third.
Rome's Institute for Inter-Disciplinary Studies says 22% of respondents go to Italy because they hope to meet a hunk.
Italy's natural beauty is the reason for 36% taking holidays there, while18% cite its museums, The Times reports.

"Negroid" is a PHENOTYPE not a genetic mutation. This just goes to show how far you will stretch information to deny the obvious - East Africans and to a lesser extent West Africans have colonized parts of sourthern Europe. No way around it.

surveys, surveys
"The myth of the Latin lover is as enduring in Italy as it is, well, mythical. ... 'The Latin lover is our Loch Ness monster, a legend that keeps cropping up to boost tourism and our self-image.' ... By July, however, alarmed newspaper headlines in Italy had drawn the opposite conclusion about Italian machismo. A study by Pfizer, the company that makes Viagra, suggested that 59.2 percent of Italian men confessed to insecurity about their sexual performance, and 42.6 admitted to sexual difficulties."

"Who isn't getting laid? If you're traveling the globe in search of sex, you'd do well to avoid Germany, Italy and Malaysia (tied at 14 percent), China (9 percent), Russia (6 percent) and Hong Kong, where only 5 percent of the population reports being satisfied with their sex lives."

6 out of 10 Italian women sexually unhappy
Archive: Sexual Health
According to a survey released during the meeting of the Italian Society of General Practitioners, the gigolos are no-gos. More than two-thirds of the men, according to the study, confessed to the kind of problems discussed in Viagra ads.
Chiara Simonelli, a sexologist at Sapienza Hospital, said many women in their 30s and 40s had opted for celibacy out of despair of ever finding true romance in the land of Casanova.
Society president Claudio Cricelli said sexual frustration was leading to hypochondria, nervous problems and tension - not to mention one of the lowest birth rates in Europe.

As I thought, you tend to avoid the cold, hard facts. No way around it, southern Europe WAS indeed colonized by Africans dating back to the mesolithic period.
Posted by: Thought at June 27, 2004 10:31 AMYou tend to avoid the fact that North Africans came from Eurasia in the Neolithic. Also, please stop posting in this thread which is about Italians.
Posted by: Dienekes at June 27, 2004 02:55 PMSatisfaction is a function of (i) what you expect, and (ii) what you get. It's well known that modern southern European women tend to be more demanding and "high maintainance", perhaps as a transient effect from previous generations which were more submissive to the males in their lives.
Posted by: Dienekes at June 27, 2004 03:01 PM"Rome's Institute for Inter-Disciplinary Studies says 22% of respondents go to Italy because they hope to meet a hunk."
And if the world-renown Institute for Inter-Disciplinary Studies in Rome says it, and it's reported by an internet tabloid, it must be true.
Posted by: Credulous Med at June 27, 2004 05:56 PMWell, everyone can judge for themselves the quality of the source. Your google query may not find such an institute because the title is a translation of a simialar or equivalent Italian one.
Posted by: Dienekes at June 27, 2004 06:33 PMIt seems that the Institute has no web presence even in its Italian rendering. The closest I could find is "Centro di Studi interdisciplinari" but that's in Venice, not Rome. There's a similar thing in Sassari (Sardinia). Nothing in Rome.
The claimed results are unrealistic anyway. For a woman to travel 1000+ km and spend 1000+ Euros just to find someone a shade darker and a couple inches shorter than the average man of her own country doesn't ring true, especially not to a degree that would account for 22% of vacations to Italy. Not that people don't like to have vacation flings. But for so many women to have intimate encounters as one's main purpose? No, I don't buy it. Most women who want sex can get as much of it as they want, from whomever they want, without traveling. The survey screams bullsh1t from multiple angles.
>> It seems that the Institute has no web presence even in its Italian rendering.
Having no web presence proves lack of web presence, not lack of existence.
>> Most women who want sex can get as much of it as they want, from whomever they want, without traveling.
I don't think quantity is the issue.

I dont believe the results of this survey, it sounds like bogus to me. A lot of surveys are incorrect and not everything you read is true.
By the way, even if this survey is speaking the truth then still the following point holds :
They only surveyd Northern European females who are as a tourist in Italy, they didnt survey Northern-European females in general.
Northern-European females who are as tourists in Italy are not representative for Northern-European females in general.
There are ofcourse some Northern-European women who like Southern-European men, but at the same time these Northern-European women also like Northern-European men. In other words : they have no preference.
In reality less than 5 % of Northern-European females prefer Southern-European men over Northern-European men.
By the way, I would like to see a survey where they asked Italian women what kind of men they prefer :
Im sure lots of Italian women prefer Northern-European looking men like Brad Pitt or Central-European looking men like Tom Cruise or Josh Hartnett.
;)
